Standing Sun LIVE in the Winery presents
Roem Baur
&
Kathleen Sieck
and The Paradise Road
Roem Baur Bio: As seen on NBC's The Voice, Roem Baur is a unique singer, songwriter, and self-taught multi-instrumentalist who cites Freddie Mercury, John Lee Hooker,
Roy Orbison, & choral singing among his influences. He possesses “a ridiculous vocal range and a troubadour’s soul,” (
RSLBlog.com
) a sound that is seemingly from another musical era than his own. A mix of pure tenor, groove, and “a voice that seems to burn with fire” (
Examiner.com
) his live shows thrill audiences and peers alike. From superstars like Pink, Chris Isaak, Blue Oyster Cult, Pat Benatar, to the Counting Crows' Adam Duritz, Baur has been praised publicly and to millions on social media for his “Wild” (Entertainment Weekly) stage show and his wailing version of blues, soul and 60’s-inspired rock n’ roll.
Residing in San Francisco, California, Roem has already gained a great reputation thanks to stints on NBC’s The Voice and a hugely successful run of shows at SXSW & CES. Even though to date Roem has only released one studio EP and one live EP (with Bob Weir’s TRI studios,) he is fast building a loyal fan base both the West Coast and across the US for his much anticipated upcoming release, produced by GRAMMY nominated Damien Lewis (Rihanna, Janelle Monae, Capital Cities.)
Kathleen Sieck Bio:
I love simple country music - not the kind on the radio, but the kind you used to hear growing up in the dusty bench seat of the ranch truck, with the head of an australian shepherd resting on the open window sill. The kind of music where Mr. Cowboy Man seemed like he just pulled up right next to you, no frills, to tell you a little something about life - while wearing his awesome vintage 1950's jean jacket and sporting an old nylon string guitar.
I love where we come from. I love that I know it won't rain from April to October, I love fresh tamales in December, I love the pre-seven am cowboy rush at the Longhorn cafe in town, I love the grapevines climbing in clean rows up the flanks of the hillsides, rust-red beneath the autumn mist.
I write music that reflects my life as a Californian, as a Christian, as a mother and a lover and a wife. I write music to go on a back porch, mostly, and sometimes a front porch or a church or a bar or someplace, but mostly I write music about the toils and exultations of this beautiful and difficult life we are in.
It's a short life, so we should sing while we have the breath for it.
