Tasting Notes

2007 Syrah:

The inky dark appearance and powerfully peppery nose belies this wine's true nature - one of poise and the understated beauty of a true aristocrat. With a refined yet muscular structure, the intense black pepper, anise & violet aromas give way to expansive fruit on the palate with blackberry & currant casually escorted by an essence of fleur de sel through the long, spicy finish.

2008 Pinot Noir:

Aromas of bright red cherry, sweet tobacco & pencil shavings. Explodes with juicy, vibrant fruit of red cherry, pomegranate & cranberry on the attack that gathers a touch of baking spice on the mid-palate. Clean and refined with lively acidity, supple tannins and a subtle but lingering finish. Although it's great with food, this is a perfect sipping wine - try it paired with the gentle warmth of the afternoon sun, a porch swing, a cool breeze & good company.

2009 Le Blanc:

This elegant, yet racy blend of 60% Grenache Blanc & 40% Viognier evokes Asian cuisine with aromas of jasmine, ginger flowers, ripe pineapple & a hint of white pepper. On the palate, green apple & passionfruit also shine through. With its crisp acidity, tropical fruit & floral aromas leading to a nicely integrated minerality on the finish, this wine should prove a perfect pairing for fresh oysters, spring rolls, grilled shrimp & even sushi.

2009 Pinot Noir:

Aromas of black cherry and framboise dance out of the glass accompanied by hints of dill and pencil shavings. On the palate, the first impression is of a well-mannered sophisticate with brandied cherries and pomegranate framed gently by sage and Oolong tea. Yet a hint of cigar box upon revisiting the nose, its firm structure, and lingering minerality reveal a hidden dark and brooding nature that will reward those willing to explore its nuanced depths.

2009 Grenache:

Fun, flirty style with ripe plum, red currant and black licorice dominating the nose that almost masks a hint of black pepper that peeks through ever so slightly. On the palate, raspberry, currant & pomegranate harmonize nicely with generous acidity, plush tannins and undercurrents of anise and black cherry. This is a great sipping wine or try it with barbecued chicken, paella or pizza.

2009 Syrah:

Heady aromas of baking spice, braised figs and blackberry with a touch of leather & cedar. This is a gentle giant of a wine with focused black fruits held together by ample spice, black pepper and a well framed structure that all open up nicely to reveal soft vanilla undertones and an enticing sensuality that may just make you beg for more. This is a wine perfectly suited to quiet contemplation by a crackling fire or a romantic candlelit dinner - try it with wild game, smoked meats or steak au poivre.

2009 GSM:
Seductive & sexy with intoxicating aromas of incense, anise & blueberry preserves that waft ever so casually from the glass. On the palate, the acidity and brightness of the Grenache flirt shamelessly with the spice and minerality of the Syrah while the Mourvedre lends depth, structure and the slightest bit of game-y earthiness that grounds this otherwise very fruit driven, free-spirited ménage à trois.
